The heavy gales recently experienced wore responsible for a good deal of damage amongst the orchards around the district, apples and pears having to submit to a drastic thinning out, which in most cases was an unnecessary operation, as the trees were not overladen.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Redmayne, of “Bushlands,” are on a visit to Wellington. Mr. McLean, our local stationmaster, has been transferred to Morrinsvlllo and left on Tuesday to take up his new duties. Mr. Hart is temporarily filling his position here.
