OROUA BOWLING CLUB

MEETING OT' THE COMMITTEE. The committee of the Oroua Bowling Club met on Tuesday evening, Mr. E. Goodbehere presiding. There wore also present Messrs. Entwistie, Pearce, Smith, Jensen, Hayblttle, Miles and the Rev. Canon Petrie. A letter was received from Mr. W. J. McCulloch, instructor In agriculture, stating that he would be pleased to Inspect the Club’s ground when visiting Feilding next month. After some discussion, th 6 committee resolved to leave th e matter In the hands of the ground committee to arrange to meet Mr. McCulloch, and the questions of grass seed and fencing were also left in th e committee’s hands. Mr. Hayblttle made reference to the services rendered to the Club gratuitously by Messrs. E. Smith, S. Gray, W. Reid, and Andrew,, and suggested that -the Club should record Its appreciation of the atclon of these gentlemen.

The chairman endorsed what had been said and the meeting carried a vote of thanks.

Further donations amounting to €2 12/6 were received from M. 'Andrews, "donor” and E. Allan. Mr. Haybitlo. announced that Mr. H. S. Cornfoot, an hon. lif e member of the Club, had promised to donate a sum of £lO 10/for obtaining a trophy to b e played for under conditions to be drafted by th e committee and approved of by the donor. The announcement was received with applause and it was resolved to send a letter of thanks to Mr. Cornfoot.

The committee considered at some length a proposal to run an Art Union for the purpose of raising funds with which to help pay for the laying down of the green and other proposed work. It was. considered that an art union would be the means of placing the Club In a sound position, and on tho motion of Rev. Canon Petrie, seconded by Mr. E. Smith, the matter was left in th e hands of Messrs. Pearce, Jensen and the 'Secretary for inquiry and report.
