Mysterious Death of Hastings Visitor FAMILY’S SPLENDID WAR-TIME RECORD | A man named Maurice Pattlbk Malone, of Frasertown, who, with hi* | wife, was on a visit to Hastings, died ; there, at Boynton Hospital, at 6.80 - a.m. on Saturday In peculiar circumstances. At;-; about 11.45 p.m. Mrs. Malon e hesi-4 ; her husband breathing very heavily and making strange noises. An inquest was held on Saturday | afternoon, but after formal evidence, .', was heard, it was adjourned until; ;; further particulars had been gathered*, - The late Mr. Malone was a soldier I settler, and was 30 years of age. Re was one of a family which bore » splendid war record. His father, • | prominent solicitor in Taranaki, Utt . with the Main Body, and as Colonel, ; Malone, Brigadier of the Weillngtoa L Regiment, was killed at Chunuk Batir : I on the day of th e famous landing at r i Suvla Bay. His eldest brother left j with the Mala Body, and was late*; ; killed in Prance; the second brother ,? was with the first landing contingent (p at Samoa; he and his remaining i brothers were wounded In Palestine : and Franco respectively, :whlle hlg : only sister drove a motor wnbulana* - in London. After being invalided m home ha was under treatment for ; some time and on demobilisation drew an allotment at Ardkeeu, Frasertown, 1 Walroa. H». v is survived -by his wife on« little A girl, who passed Palmerston North, eft S route to Wellington on the Napier - mall yesterday.
