SHUNTING FATALITY
IN FRANKTON RAILWAY YARDS. VICTIM LEAVEs’fIVE YOUNG CHILDREN. [Per Press Association.] HAMILTON, imt Night. a shocking fatality occurred *t thi Prankton Railway yards late yesterday afternoon, when * middle-aged man, employed as leading shimter, named James Mackey, }oft hi* Mfs by being run over while shunting truck#. The circumstance# are distressing, the deceased leaving a Wife and flVf children .all under fourteen ydar* the youngest being seven mouths ol<L Deceased wfwi working with a couple o| other railway employees and about half a dozen trucks were being shunted. The victim was travailing alobg in the customary manner, standing between a couple of trucks. On stepping down on the long braks handle, be missed his footing, one foot* being caught between the line and the wheel and resulted In deceased being dragged under th> truck which passed over tho left thigh,practically severing the limb. Maekay died within a few minutes from shock. i At the inquest a verdict was returned of death as the result of shook and hemorrhage, , through being run over by a railway truck, no blame being attachable to anyone.
