FALL ON A BOTTLE
FARMER SEVERS ARTERY. A DANGEROUS PREDICAMENT. CHRISTCHURCH, January 4. An unusual mishap had painful consequences for Mr Oliver Hunter, a farmer, of Church Bay. While return, ing to his home from an outlying paddock he slipped on a rocky slope and his tea bottle was smashed, a jagged edge cutting his left wrist, severing an artery. Holding his wrist tightly, Mr Hunter made for the nearest' residence, about three miles distant, and there was given first aid. He then started out for Lyttelton to secure treatment by a doctor. On reaching Diamond Harbour he collapsed from loss of blood, but a boat was quickly procured to ferry him across the harbour. He is now progressing satisfactorily.
