JUDGE ON COMPENSATION. LONDON November 20. Judge Cluer, of the Shoreditch County Court, in declining to sanction the payment of a lump sum of £GS as compensation to a youth of 17, who had lost the tips of two fingers, said, “Let the guillotine be brought Into Court, and see whether the respondent is willing to be similarly mutilated for that sum.” He ordered the case to be tried, saying that perhaps he ought to multiply the 65 by 10 and add 20.
