ELTHAM RESIDENT COTS SON'S THROAT
Intended to Kill Family, Then Sell MURDER CHARGE TO BE HEARD NEXT WEEK [Per Press Association.] ELTHAM. November 20. When William Grky, aged 14, was cleaning boots in the washhouse about 6.43 this morning, his father, Archibald Gray, aged 47. health Inspector for the Eltham district, entered and, picking up a hammer, hit his son on the head and then cut his son’s throat with a razor. The screams attracted neighbours, who took the razor from Gray. in a statement Gray said: “I have been nervy and not sleeping well lately. I Intended to kill my family and then myself." His wife says that Gray has beea quite normal lately. Gray was under transfer to Dannevlrke in January. He had been resident in Eltham for 14 years and Is well-known. Gray was charged this morning with the murder of his son ond was re» manded to New Plymouth till Decern* bor 4. Bail was not asked for.
