Fear of Feed Famine Swamps Addington DECIDED DROP IN VALUES ALL ROUND [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH Last Night. Excess yardings were the rule at to-day’s Addington market and there was a decided drop in values, particularly for fat sheep. The uncertainty regarding feed was-the cause of the heavy entry. Store sheep.—A small entry and a drop in prices of 2/- a head for wethers. Half the yarding was passed at auction, but was disposed of later. Forward 4 and 6 tooth half-bred wethers made to 30/3, forward 5 and G-t.ooth crossbred wethers, to 30/10; 'four and six-tooth halfbred wethers, 27/- to 29/6: good two-tooth halfbred wethers, 24/- to 24/11. Fat lambs. —600 head were entered: more than butchers wanted and there was a drop of 2/- to 3/- a head. Values averaged from 9d to lOd a lb. Fat sheep.—A heavy entry of 11 races, practically all shorn sheep. There were a few North Island and South Otago sheep forward. The market dropped from 3/- to 4/- a head on last week and towards the close of the market the bulk of the sheep were passed. Values were lower than they have been since th • last Summer. ' Show wethers made 43/6 to 51/6; extra prime wethers j fetched 36/9 to 41/4; prime wethers, 38/- to 36/6; medium wethers, 30/to 32/6: light wethers, 27/10 to 29/9; extra prime ewes, to 33/10; prime ewes 27/- to 31/-; medium ewes, 24/6 to 26/6; light ewes 21/6 to 24/-; inferior ewes, IT,/- to 20/-; prime woolly wethers, 37/6 to 41/6; extra good, to 52/9; prime wooily ewes, 36/- to 49/4; medium woolly ewes, 29/- to 35/-. Fat cattle.—An excess entry of 645 head including about 10,0 from the North Island, met a dragging sale with a drop of GO/- a head on big steers from last week about 40/- on lighter sorts. Prime medium-weight beef averaged 46/6 to 49/6, and in a few cases to 51/- per lOOlbs. Prime heavy-weight beef fetched 43/- to 46/-; medium, 38/- to 41/-; light and inferior, 34/- to 37/6; and rough down to 25/-. Extra prime heavy-weight steers realised up to £23 17/6; prime heavy-weight steers £l9 to £2l; prime medium-weight steers, £lB 5/to £2l 10/-; medium steers. £ls 10/to £lB 5/-; light steers £ll to £ls 10/-; extra prime heifers to £ls 7/6; prime heifers, £l2 10/- to £l4 5/-; medium heifers, £9 to £l2 5/-; light heifers, £6 5/- to £8 15/-! extra prime cows to £l6 12/6: prime cows. £ll 5/- to £l3 15/-; ordinary cows, £9 to £11; light cows £5 to £8 10/-. Vealers. —A heavier entry and an easier sale. Runners made to £8 10/and vealers to £6 17/6.

Dairy cattle.—A very small yarding and few buyers. Best cows sold up to £9 .15/- and best heifers to £B.

Store cattle. —Prices were Influenced by the beef market. Three and fouryear steers made to £lO 7/6; yearling and 18 months, £2 17/6 to £3 4/6, 2-year heifers to £4 10/-; good cows, £3 to £5. Fat pigs.—A large entry. Bacohers sold at little change, but porkers were easier. Choppers made from £3 to £7 10/-; light baconers, £4 to £0 5/- (average price per lb 8d to 9d) porkers, 55/- to 75/- (average price BJd to Did). Store pigs.—A very large entry. All classes were easier. Weancrs made 22/- to 28/-. slips, 30/- to 36/-; stores 38/- to £3 15/-. J OHN SON VILLE SALE. Messrs. Abraham and Williams Ltd. and Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd report on (he Johnsonvllle sale yesterday as follow: The usual yarding of good quality stock came forward. A small attendance of butchers bought stock well within values, prices all round showing a considerable drop on previous week's quotations. We quote:— Bullocks: £l2 10/-, £l4 10/-. £l4 17/6, £ls, £ls 10/-, £l6 15/- £l6 17/8, £l7 to £l7 5/-; vealers 27/6, 30/-, 35/-, £2 14/-. £2 17/6, £3, £3 3/-, £3 6/- to £3 17/-; shorn wethers 34/6 to 35/-; black face, 29/-, 30/-. to 30/3; woolly wethers £2 to £2 1/6; shorn ewes, 28/- to 29/-; lambs, 20/-. 21/6, 24/-, 25/6 to 27/-.
