TERRACE END SCHOOL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Terrace End School Committee was held last evening. Mr G. H. Stiles occupied the chair and there were also present: Messrs. W. B. Cameron, H. W. Scott. J. H. Coker, A. E. Allen, W. Hebden and T. A. Hastings (hon. secretary). An apology was received from Mr W. MaePherson.

Mr Polkinghorne wrote on behalf of the Manawatu Concert Party offering to put on a concert later in the year on the basis ot 50-50 towards the school funds.—lt was decided to thank Mr Polkinghorne for the offer but to tell him that such a proposal could not be entertained. The Education Board advised that it was proposed to appoint Miss Mathieson assistant at the school. — The appointment was confirmed. After considering a circular on Bible-in-Schools legislation the following resolution was carried; “That this committee gives its approval to the Bill called the Religious Exercises in Schools Bill.” and that the resolution bo forwarded to Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., asking him to support It.

The traffic manager submitted a special timetable for the school ball to bo held on the 24th. The committee approved and the secretary was instructed to thank Mr Paton for his excellent arrangements. It was resolved: “That in view of the fact that plans for the addition.* to the Terrace End School have been before the Education Department for some time and the urgent need there is for these additions, wo urge Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., to do his utmost, by interviewing the Minister of Education to get this most necessary work put in hand at the earliest possible moment.” Mr Nash is to be asked to open the fancy dress ball. .. • Messrs. W. B. Cameron and W. Macpherson were appointed a visiting committee for the month. A conblned meeting of the ladies and the school committee is to ha held on Monday next to make Anal arrangements for the ball.
