BALLANCE.
[From Our Own Correspondent.] The Ballanco Hall was the scene of unusual festivity on the evening of Friday, 10th inst, the occasion being the annual ball of the Ballanco Tennis Club. Owing to unforeseen happenings of one kind and another, the original date had to be altered several times; but when finally a suitable date was decided on, Fortune was kind for the night was beautiful —cold and starry, just an ideal night for tripping "the light fantastic.” Wi Duncan’s orchestra from Danncvirke, supplied the music, which was full of life and melody—so much that it set on their dancing feet even those who had thought themselves done with such frivolity, and sent them tripping with the young and gay. The hall had been prettily decorated hy Tennis Club members, and with the dainty frocks worn by the ladles, presented a most pleasing sight. It was filled to overflowing, visitors being present from Pahlatua, Woodvllle, and Dannevirke. A beautiful supper, supplied by Dustin’s, of Palmerston North, was done full justice to, and voted "par excellence,” 'by all. Mr. R. W. Foss, president of the Club, made a most efficient M.C., and kept things going with a swing. Taking all things into consideration, this was one of the best dances ever held in Ballahce, and the Tennis Club is to be congratulated on having worked to such successful issue.
