KAKAREKI.
[From Our Own Correspondent.] A fair crowd attended the euchre party and dance on Friday evening:, with many visitors present from surrounding - districts. Mrs. J. Blunden and Miss A. Stuart tied for the ladies’ prize. On the cut of the cards, the prize fell to Mrs. Blunden, who was presented with a handsome glass water jug, half a dozen tumblers, and and a box of chocolates. The men’s prize fell to Mr. J. McKenzie, who was presented with a pack of cards. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs. F. Churcher. who received a box of stationery and Mr. W. Paulding a cake of fancy soap. The childrens’ sections were won by Miss B. Kreeghor and Hubert Blunden, the former receiving a string of beads, the latter a box of chocolates. Consolation, Queenie Kreegher and Willie Kreeghor, the former gaining a trumpet, the latter a wind wheel.
After a dainty supper 40 couples took the floor for dancing with music supplied by the guests of the evening.
