DISEASES OF POULTRY.

DEG WEAKNESSES. Leg weakness is an ailment often found in cockerels that are growdng and developing too fast. It is seldom present in pullets. The breeds long in the shanks such as the Minorcas, Langshan, Andalusians, and Modern Games, suffer most from the defect. The trouble may be increased by close breeding, and neglect to supply proper food.

Birds affected should be at oncc removod from the general flock and placed on straw in a well lighted and ventilated pen of fair size. Place finely-ground bone-meal (dry) in the soft food —about a teaspoonful to each two birds—-five or six days a week. Plenty of green food should be supplied, and lime place in thfe drinking water.

The joints and shanks should be rubbed gently with Row's embrocation or other strengthening liniment. Rubbing twice a, day and using bonemeal in the soft food will usually produce satisfactory results. Should this ail Parrish’s chemical food should be

added. About a dessertspoonful Is a dose for one bird, and it can be given twice a day.
