IN BANKRUPTCY.

PUBLIC EXAMINATION DECIDES UPON. A further meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Clare Unsted. of Feilding, was held at Feilding on Monday. The D.O.A. (Hr. C. E. Dempsy) presided, there being also present the following creditors: —Messrs G Wells, H. S. Street, F. J. Mann. W. Quay! a and E. V. Spear (representing Messrs. Barraud and Abraham, Ltd.). In answer to Mr. J. Graham, solicitor for Messrs. Mann and Street, bankrupt stated that she was not In difficulties until she had to soil out at a lower figure than she anticipated. She knew in February that she would have to sell out or get into further difficulties. She could not find a purchaser and was obliged to get further credit, but did not inforrh the trades people who gave her their credit, of her position. She anticipated getting back the £750 which she had put into the hotel, but that was all the money she reckoned on. That money would have paid her creditors. Bankrupt admitted telling Mr. Spear, of Messrs. Barraud and Abraham, that she anticipated getting about £2OOO from land in England, but that statement was untrue. She had not made a similar statement to anyone else, nor had she mentioned to Mr. Mann that she was going Hpme to get this money, or, for that matter, any other money; neither had she mentioned buying a car with the intention of touring New Zealand. Bankrupt explained that she was a widow, her husband having died about 13 years ago in London. She had two children and along with her two sisters, helped to support her widowed mother. It was decided on the motion of Mr. Mann, seconded by Mr. Street, that in view of the alleged unsatisfactory nature, of the evidence, the bankrupt be publioaily examined.
