STOCK SALES.
The initial sale of Pedigree Pigs under the auspices of' the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association was held at Palmerston “North Show grounds on Wednesday June 17, eondilcted by Messrs Abraham and Williams Ltd., Dalgcty and Co. Ltd. apd Wright, Stephenson and Co. Ltd. in conjunction. The entry comprised 146 pigs made up of 71 Berkshires, ,43 Tam worths, 13 large Blacks, 15 Yorkshires and 4 large Whites. There was n very keen demand for sows which had been bred and practically all of these found ready purchasers, but the' demand was not so keen for the younger pigs and there were rather many boars penned for the day’s requirements. Taken on the whole the sale must bo considered a very successful one and augurs well for future years. The following arc' the prices realised:—Berkshire boars: S, 3i. 41, 4), 5. si, 5), '6 to 9gns; young Berkshire, sows: 3 to sgns; Berkshire breeding sows: si, S, BJ, 10, Hi. 13 14 4, 15 to 20Jgns; Tamworth boars: 43. 51, 54, 6 to 63gns; Tamworth breeding sows: G, 71, 8, 101 to 13gns; large Blacks, boars: 4. 6, 9gns; large Blacks, sows; G, 7,7 J to Sgns; Yorkshire sow 54gns; Yorkshire boars 5J gns.
