MOTHER’S MISTAKE.
CHILDREN ON WRONG SHIP. The steamers Cooma and Katoomba both sailed from Melbourne for Sydney recntly within half an hour of each other, and a woman put her two children a—girl aged 16 and a boy of 11 —on the wrong boat. The children had originally booked their passages for Brisbane on the Cooma, but they boarded tho Katoomba a few minutes before she sailed at noon, and the mistake was only discovered when tho Katoomba was well down the river. The children’s mother Immediately went to where the Cooma was berthed and explained the facts to the chief officer. A wireless message was sent from the Cooma to the purser of the ; Katoomba informing him what had happened, and stating that the Cooma’s purser held tho passage tickets. Tho wireless message added that the children would be picked up at Sydney. Their luggage was on the Cooma.
