Cobbe, of the well-known Arden Stud received flic . highest - price of 500 guineas for the champion cow, Viola's Queen Boss at the breeders’ combined unreserved sale of Jersey Stud stock, at the Show grounds yesterday. There was a very largo and representative gathering of breeders from both Islands, and whilst the sale' dragged somewhat, the prices obtained were satisfactory The “offering comprised thirty-four choice animals of the Jersey breed, and were offered on account of Mr It. Cobbe, of “Arden,” Aorangi, Feilding, W. R. L. Horn, of ‘Ku Ku fame, Bovin, and W. J.- J. Mein, of the “Ringly” Stud, Levin, The lots were catalogued according to the respective vendors’ entries, but were offered in mixed order. Viola's Queen Bess certainly appealed to the bench of buyers, and there was some competition for this choice animal, Agents, acting on behalf of an Australian buyer, went as high as 400 guineas-, and the ultimate purchaser was Mr W. T. Williams, of To Aute. It was announced that Mr Cobbe was going right out of the Stud Stock breeding iu order to devote time to politics.
