BRAMWELL & BROPHY
[To the Editor.] Sir, —In the report of the Old BoysFellding 1 game in Monday’s issue, undue prominence is given to a ‘‘blunder’’ by Bramwell, wing-three-quarter for Feilding - . Bramwell was placed in such a position that It was Impossible for him to prevent the try. He was moving almost parallel with the goal line, while Brophy was moving towards it at an angle of about forty-five degrees; Bramwell being nearer to the touch-line than Brophy by about six feet. With backs of equal ability placed in the same positions, the attacker would score on every occasion, even without taking into account that in this instance Brophy was supported by Palmer, Bramwell’s opposing wing-three-quarter. The opening was made before the ball reached Brophy .otherwise Bramwell would not have had to watch Brophy. who was playing centre. The criticism was not only wrong in fact, but unduly harsh. 1 am. etc., J. RYAN.
