The football season opened in Sydney with a large attendance at matches of all codes.
The monthly meeting of the_ District Nursing Guild will be held this afternoon at 2.30 o’clock at the Palmerston North Borough Council Chambers.
At Bunnythorpe on Saturday, Wes-tern-United put up a good performance by defeating the maroons B—6 in the Manawatu junior championship The fourth grade Rugby match School v. Technical did not evehtuate on Saturday. “Tech” under the title of Technical Old Boys has gone into the third grade competition and appear in the revised fixtures published elsewhere.
Following on the reduction in the price of flour, the Canterbury Master Bakers’ Association has decided to reduce the price of bread by a halfpenny on the four-pound loaf. The present price of the loaf is 1/1 cash over the counter, or 1/2 delivered. — Press Association.
There is considerable interest in the annual election of twelve members of the A. and P. Association’s committee for which there are no less than 22 candidates, one each from Colyton. Tiakitahuna, Cheltenham, Sanson, and Rongotca, two each from Linton and Kairanga and thirteen from Palmerston North. The poll closes on Wednesday at noon. Over 1000 votes will probably be recorded. Ladies will bo interested in the new shipment of beautiful Paisley Silks just received by tho C. M. Ross Co. Ltd.
