POPPY DAY.
TO BE HELD OX APRIL 18. • “That Poppy Day be held on April IS” was the decision reached at a meeting last evening of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, over which Mr. B J. Jacobs presided. The secretary was instructed to order from headquarters 4,000 small and 600 large poppies. , , , It was decided that armlets be procured for authorised sellers. It was resolved that the chairman and secretary call a combined meeting with the ladies’ sub-committee. The secretary was instructed to write the country schools to ascertain their requirements in the matter of poppies, it being resolved that the poppies be distributed in the schools on Friday, April 17. The matter of publicity and general advertising was tfyen gone into, Mr. Rutherfurd stating that he would like it made clear that the poppies were made by the children of France, and that the proceeds of the sales were to go towards the relief of distress in that quarter.
