FORESTERS’ CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL

Many happy children and their parents were present at the Foresters Tfall, Bowen street, on Monday night, v. hen the Feilding Loyal Court, entertained the young people to a Christmas tree. The Foresters entered heartily into the spirit of the evening and Father Christmas handed round tlte toys to the little ones, who were Uir!l!ed with the event. The gifts were supplemented by sweets and supper, after which the secretary, Bro. Haybittle, thanked those present for their attendance and expressed hearty appreciation to Bro. Bundle and his committee for the excellent manner in which the arrangement*! were carried out. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne" and cheers for the committee and Father Christmas concluded a happy evening. At Mnkino, A Christmas treat was given to the children of the Makino Lodge, at •Makino also, and there the visit of Father Christmas was given a realistic effect. With all the children assembled awaiting the mystic Hour of eight, the lights were extinguished and then put on again. With blinking eyes, the children gazed on Father Christmas sitting in the huge fireplace of a chimney specially erected for the occasion. Gifts were distributed all round, and following sweets and supper, interspersed with musical items, a happy evening was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
