ANNUAL PRIZE-GIVING

Heavy rain spoilt the Kimbolton school children’s outing, which was to have been held on the recreation ground yesterday. • Arrangements were made, however, for the function to take place in the Kimbollon Hall where the little ones made merry whilst the rain rattled on to the root. There was a large gathering of parents and friends, as well as members of the Kiwitea County Council. Opportunity was taken to farewell Miss Z. Rydcn, assistant teacher, was has resigned her position, and the chairman of the committee (Mr AY. I/. Hosscltine), on behalf of the parents, presented her with a silver jewel case. In making die presentation. Mr Hcsscltine said that he voiced the very sincere fogrets of the paients and children, who had made it plain to him that Miss Ryden had endeared herself to her young pupils. Whilst her stay in Kimbollon had not been very much over a year, her work had been greatly appreciated, and her departure was a loss to lire district The children wore deeply sorry that Miss Ryden was leaving them, and it was their unanimous wish that she should take with her their very best wishes for a happy and successful future (Applause.) Miss Ryden suitably acknowledged the gift. Mr Kesseltine, who presided over the gathering, called on Air L. ’l'. McLean. chairman of the Kiwitea County Council, to present the prizes. Prize List.
