FIRE FIGHTERS FOR HAWERA.

[Per Press Association.] HAWERA, Nov. 27

The executive of the United Fire Brigade Association of New Zealand ia holding a conference at Hawera. One of the most Important matters discussed was for an improved system and means of educating the general public in the needs of fire prevention. It was finally decided that Captain Watts, advisory superintendent of the U.F.B.A. confer with Capt. Hugo, Government inspector of fire brigades, the subject for conference to include compulsory fire drill in ischools, all public institutions, and factories. The conference also stressed the urgent need of a uniform set of fire prevention by-laws, the standardisat'on of all fire brigade equipment, efficient water supplies, and reticulation. .
