When men attend such functions they frequently seem to bo unprovided for in the matter of loose change. DANCES. HAPPY GATHERING AT R.S.A. Happiness was tlie keynote of the R.S.A. ' plain and fancy dress dance, held at the Club on Saturday evening, when there was unprecedented crowd present, the promoters being compelled to turn some away. Those present had a splendid time, however, and the competition for the dresses caused the judges (Mrs McFerran and Mr MacMillan) some serious thought. The march past of the brightly costumed figures was a brilliant spectablo, the prizes finally being awarded to the following: Ladies, original, Miss E. Rule (Peanuts): best costume, Miss Pederson (Harlequin): gent’s original, Mr McKenna (Indian Chief); best costume, Mr Bureau (Mexican). In addition to the fancy dress competition, the results of the All Black score guessing contest were also announced. Mr L. P. McNab and Miss A. King secured the prizes, they having guessed the correct score of Saturday’s game. Following upon a dainty supper, the dancers were kept well curtained by various novUics, for which the club dances are noted, a shower of, -coloured streamers and ■nfetti accompanying them as they danced to the strains of the final waltz. ■ Another “All Black’’ Success. The municipal Band held an “All Slack” complimentary dance last aturday c zoning', when the Band Hall was crowded by young people ■.ncing to enticing orchestral music and extras supplied by Misses Conlan, Jeffries, and Mr Spencer. During the evening “All Black” novelvy waltzes were won by Miss Camnon, of Wanganui, and Mr Daly. A dainty supper was organised by the ladies' management committee, Mr W. Waldron was M.C.
