Amid Labour cheers, the House ot Commons passed the third reading of the Government's Housing Bill. A Conservative motion for the rejection of the Bill was defeated by 226 votes to 131, The Bill passed the first reading inthe House of Lords. Mr John Wheatley, .Minister or Health, admitted that the Bill is not Socialism. He said he was sorry he was not in a position to introduce a Socialist measure: the country was not ready for Socalism. (Loud Opjiosition cheers).
