CRICKET.
OLD BOYS AND PHOENIX (DANNEVIRKE). A team of colts belonging to the Palmerston North Old Boys Club, with a leavening of older players, journeyed to Dannevirke yesterday to play a cricket match with the Phoenix XL, and a most enjoyable game resulted in victory for the visitors by five wickets. The team was most hospitably entertained. Phoenix batted first and compiled 91, their most successfuf Willow wielder being Stewart, who compiled 2'i before succumbing to Jewett. Graham was the most destructive bowler, taking 2 for 0. Old Boys replied with 104. Brace €l, doing more than his share. Pickard had the heavy end of bowling taking 6 wickets in 13 overs. Phoenix did slightly better in their second strike, making 10"8 for 7 wickets (Goodall 26, Pickard 24), Old Boys had added a further 101 5 wickets when the game ended. Detailed scores were:—
