GYMNASTICS.
— • Y.M.C.A PUPILS AT OPERA * HOUSE. A good gymnastic display is one of the most enjoyable forms of entertainment apart altogether from its educational value. On Wednesday next at the Opera House, the members of the Y.M.C.A. gymnasum class will give their first annual exhibition. Under the capable instruction of Mr. C. Woods, the “ gym ’’ has made wonderful strides, and Wednesday’s performance should be a great success. The programme is most comprehensive, and will contain many humorous items as well as the spectacular ones. Boys and girls of various ages are to take part, even those of 12 years and under will have their place on the programme in free exercises, games, races, etc. High school, employed and primary school boys will be seen in pyramids, jumping and exercises. Tho seniors will be right to the fore in the items of maze run, dumb-bells, iron wands (weighing 101 b.), horizontal, and parallel bars, pyramids, etc. The ladies’ class will join in the grand march, wand exercises, gymnastic dancing steps, etc. The programme will undoubtedly be one of the finest put on in Palmerston North for some time. Special attention has been paid to stage management, and everything should go like clockwork. The ladies' auxiliary intend holding a sweet stall in the vestibule, when all classes or the finest home-made sweets will be on sale. Tickets are on sale at Phil Duncalf’s, in tho Square, and the box plan is' also with him. Booking is already heavy, do that early application is advisable to secure good scats.
