"CHANGING A TENNER." Late on Wednesday afternoon, a young man named Alexander Hugh Nelson was brought before Mr R. M Watson, S.M., on a charge of theft or a £lO note from Vincent Charles Laird The circumstances of the case, which were fully reported in our issue ot Wednesday, were that Nelson, made a chance acquaintance of Laird and offered to change a £lO note, and then disappeared. He was later arrested in Palmerston North by Constable McCall The accused pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 21 days' imprisonment in the Wanganui gaol. The money found in the possession of Nelson, about £<> odd, was ordered to bo handed to Laird.
