[By Electric Cable—Copyright]
[Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received Tuesday, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 15.
The Imperial Conference delegates have returned from Chatsworth. The Conference reassembled in the afternoon. As was anticipated, the report of the Imperial committee on defence was taken up on a statement by the Marquis of Salisbury, chairman of the committee, who outlined the subject in general terms. The chief speakers following were Messrs. Bruce and'Massey. Merely.incidental reference was made to the Naval side of the question. A sitting for its fuller consideration will probably be held on Wednesday. To-morrow the Economic Conference resumes, when the question of transport is likely to be debated and airship possibilities discussed.
SECRET PROCEEDINGS. (Received Tuesday, 11.15 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 15. The Imperial Conference decided that to-day's proceedings should not be published. It is still unsettled when the debate on foreign, policy is to be continued. A communique Bhows that the Irish delegates did not attend. It is understood Lord Salisbury's statement dealt on broad principles, not the details of defence.
Messrs Mackenzie King, Bruce and Massey briefly contributed.
