CENTRAL SCHOOL
COMMITTEE MEETING. Mr A. J. Mahon presided at a meeting of the Central School Committee last evening. A letter dated July 4 was received from the Education Board, advising that the architect would arrange as early as possible for the erection of bicycle and shelter sheds at the school.—lt was the opinion of the combined ladles and men’s committee that the Board should be asked to proceed immediately with the work. HEADMASTER’S REPORT. The headmaster (Mr L. F. de Berry) reported that th*» roll now stood at SSO, the average roll being 835, and the average attendance 750. Influenza colds had reduced the attendance during the last week. The following visited the school during the month; Messrs. Hogg and Lange, agricultural instructors, Inspectors Adams and Ryder, Major Elliott, Dr. Gunn and Nurse Wise. Two choirs from the school had entered for the Wellington competitions. The junior football team won the seven-a-side tourney. Several minor items were required.—Adopted.
