FINANCIAL DEBATE.
“TEA AND BOTTLE BUDGET.” LIBERAL AND LABOUR CRITICISMS. INTERJECTORS REPRESSED. (From our Parliamentary Repoi'ter.) WELLINGTON, Last; Night. The Financial debate is still in progress, - but has been devoid of any striking incident. The Budget has been subjected to much criticism front the Opposition and Labour benches, and has been characterised by Mr. Wilford as a “ tea and glass bottle Budget,” while a Labour member, Mr. Munro (Dunedin North) has described it as a " fairy tale.” To-day, Mr. Lysnar said that it was a better fairy tale than the Labour Party’s policy, which only provided for confiscation. So far, only two Ministers have spoken, these being Messrs. Stewaro and Parr. Mr. Stewart said the Budget was the best produced for many years, while Mr. Parr has twitted the Labour Party on its policy, and said it would never rcaoii the Treasury benches until It discarded its Socialistic colours. Indications are that the debate may conclude late on Friday, thus clearing the way for consideration of the estimates. Up to the present, the debate has been very dull, the Speaker sternly repressing anything In the way of interjections.
