In the House of Commons, in reply to questions, Mr. Baldwin said that ho did not intend prior to the Imperial Conference to state the policy of the Government on the matters to bo discussed. A debate thereon at the present time would serve no useful purpose. The question of whether the Government’s policy would extend to preference on foodstuffs could not bo answered as a mass of evidence on the subject must be submitted and explored.
