HALCOMBE NOTES
(From our own Correspondent.) On Wednesday football followers will see a match which is causing much local interest, when Tokorangi meet Bulls in the junior competition, as both teams are in the running for the championship. Grounds and weather permitting, the game will be played at Halcombe, otherwise at Tokorangi. The admission to this game is gents 6d. Mr. and Mrs. Fcrgusson, of Kakal'iki, have been confined to their beds with influenza; also Mr. W. McLennoh, but latest reports are that they are progressing favourably. Lambs' are making their appearance round the Stanway district. It wo.s great to see both s'oung and old watching Mr. A. Anderson handling his team of bullocks on Saturday and all marvelled at the control he had over them. A few more days of this weather and Halcombe will hav e some of the best roads in the district, especially on the main road to Marton. Messrs. Stewart and Francis have returned from a week ag the beach, and look much better for their holiday. It is rumoured that a a dance in this district last week, the M.C. haa cause to stop a party of dancers from a neighbouring town from doing the latest jazz, because he thought the performers were making dancing too familiar an affair. The party left shortly after. It is about time the management committee of the Hockey Association woke up. They must think it a huge joke to postpone fixtures at the last minute. Perhaps if some of them had to ride six or eight miles to town to be fold thero was no match, they might sympathise with the country teams, and endeavour to rectify their system of letting clubs know of alterations to matches.
