FEILDING COMPETITIONS.
ELOCUTIONARY AND MUSICAL. Tho arrangements and organisation for the forthcoming "musical and elocutionary competitions were discussed at a meeting of the committee of the Feilding and District Public Schools Amateur Athletic Association on Saturday nght. Those present „ were: Messrs W. H. McLean (in the'chair), P. G. Jackson, C. Hansman, R. L. McIlroy, H. E Gabites, N. E. Gifford, N. S. Tankersley, and A. N. Burns. A letter was received from Mr T. H. Glenn, intimating that he would be pleased to act as judge of the dancing competitions, and tho secretary intomated that Miss Foote and offered to act as accompanist. . Tho Manawatu Rugby Union wrote forwarding a donation of £5 far the purpose of encouraging football in the primary schools, Tho secretary stated that he had received close on 500 entries, representing a total of 16 schools. This was a decided increase on last years entries, and a satisfactory feature of tho entries was the large number for tho part song and action song competitions. Messrs Jackson, Fitzpatrick, and the secretary were appointed a Timetable Committee, and Messrs Gifford and McCorkindalo tho Stage Decorating Committee.
