Mr. John D. Rockefeller, still probably the richest man in the world, celebrated his 84th birthday at his home in a local suburb. Rockefeller's life twenty-five years ago was despaired of, owing to ill-health, but his physician to-day predicts lie will livo to 100, by reason of his rigid diet and simple life. He rises early, plays a few holes of golf every day, wears warm clothing, and has congenial friends. Rockefeller, on each birthday, has a. band concort, but, as yesterday was Sunday, he went instead to church, which his friends built, and distributed among the children fifteen new five-cent pieces, or bright pennies. Mr Rockefeller, when asked for a statement, said: "There are too many people who talk in this world. I had better be silent.' Ho has distributed five hundred million dollars in various philanthropic works.
