GOVERNMENT’S INTENTIONS. FAR-REACHING AGREEMENT WITH BRITAIN. COST OP PASSAGES. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Last Night. A statement on the Government’s intention regarding its immigration policy was made by the Hon. W. Nosworthy. After referring to the various Acts passed, and the action of the Government in the past, Mr. Nosworthy says it has been decided to hold in abeyance for 1:2 months the question of entering into a scheme of immigration for the purpose of development or the land settlement scheme, but as to assisting so as to facilitate immigration, the Government has entered into an agreement with the Imperial Government, which Completely overshadows similar agreements made witn other parts of the Empire, as the following comparison shows of the costs of passage of a man, his wife and four children of ages between 3 and 16 years: To Canada, £72; to Australia, £96; to New Zealand, £36.
