PERSONAL PARAGRAPHS

A vote of condolence with the relatives of the late Rev. A. Doull was carried at last night’s session of St’. Andrew’s Church. Several of the elders spoke touchingly concerning the work and influence of the reverend gentleman in the church and district.

Constable Jas. Murphy, who for some time has been in charge of the police station at Cuba Street, Palmerston North, has been transferred to t'he charge of the Ormondville subdistrict, and Constable W. Dunphy, of Ash hurst and Constable Fisher of Pongaroa wall exchange their charges. These transfers will take effect immediately.

There passed away suddenly on Tuesday at Wakarara, Mr. H. Chote, of Tc Papakuku, Dannevirke, a very old settler of the district, aged 60 years. He is survived by his widow, a daughter and two sons, Miss Elsie and Messrs Bert and Jack Chote. The deceased expired suddenly in his motor car, after experiencing difficulty in starting it, death being due to heart failure.

News received in Palmerston North last night’ indicates that the body of the late Rev . A. Doull had left Dunedin by the express, which, however, failed to connect with the ferry. The body will arrive in WeilingTon this morning and will be conveyed to-day to Palmerston North, wdrere it will be met by members of St. Andrew’s congregation and conducted to t’he church, whence the funeral will take place to-morrow.
