A NOISY CAPPING.
CHANCELLOR’S THREAT. [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. “That noise had better be put aside for a little while. I am going to ask the graduates to put out those who up. set the ceremony, and if the graduates do not. I will suspend it, and they will have to wait for their diplomas.” Professor MacMillan Brown, Chan, cellor of the New Zealand University made this threat at the graduation ceremony of Canterbury College yesterday afternoon, but the atmosphere soon cleared. The threat was not put into effeffet and the capping ceremony proceeded to the finish without an undue amount of noise or interruption from the under-graduates, who were present in strong force. In the course of his address, Prof. MacMillan Brown announced that he intended to establish a prize for an imaginative composition at Canterbury College.
