OBITUARY.

MRS. A. HANNAY. News of the unexpected death at a late hour last night of Mrs. A. Hannay, of Amesbury Street, will come as a great shock to a wide circle of friends. She was seized with a sudden illness and passed away peacefully and painlessly very shortly afterwards. The lal'e Mrs. Hannay was well known for her many activities in church and social welfare work, and as a member of the Plunket Society and the District Nursing Guild, gave of her best in the renef of distress. The deceased lady was also leader of All Saints' Church choir, and one of its oldest members. The deepest sympathy will go out to her bereaved husband and family of three children. The late Mrs. .Hannay was the fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Matthews, of Featherston, and a sister of Mesdames Hugh Akers and O. Monraci (Palmerston North), Mrs. (Rev.) G. Stephenson (Dannevirke), Mrs. Willis, and Messrs. Charles, Harold Norman and 'Raymond Matthews, of Wairarapa. The funeral will take place to-morrow.
