MANAWATU HUNT.

Real hunt'ng weather prevailed on Saturday afternon when the Dlanavatu hounds met at Paroranga and two good runs were indulged in. Quite a big crowd of spectators assembled to watch the hunt, and between thirty and fo V followers rode to the hounds. The throw off was on the Almadalc Road, a short distance below the reservoir. Before the hounds could be laid on, they got on to (he scent of a hare, and it took a considerable time to whip them off. The drag was lahl by Messrs. E. E. Short (on Tempest) and Wallace Young (on Ghori). Among the field was some very green stuff. both horses and riders, and they experienced considerable difficulty in getting to the end of their journey, and then on'y through the medium of various gates. Among those out were: Mrs F. C( Pearson on General Padmore; Messrs. L. H. Collinson, PunJanb; J. Sexton (huntsman) Vladist; S. Taylor (hon. whip). Consul; A. Balmor, Rhoda; D. Balmer, Laddie; T. Leamy, Glen; F. S. Pearson. White Soul; W. 11. Jacobs, Silver Cloud; J. Doreen, Uncle Bob; A. Banks Faugh-a-Ballagh; S. G. Perry, Rambler; E. E. Short Tempest: Wallace Young Ghori; W. Taylor, Bourlon; J. Northcott, Quick Time; S. Northcott. Drill-1 ina; R. Northcott Ring!; R. N. Law-1 rence Nero; F. J. Mann, Royal Rein, and others. At the conclusion of the hunt, all present were entertained at afternoon tea by Dir and Mrs E. Burrell, who together with the property owners, were accorded hearty votes of thanks, on the motion of the president, of the bunt, Dir S. R. Lancaster. Mr E. Burrell responded to the vote of thanks, and extended a hearty invitation to the hunt to come along whenever they felt disposed. The next hunt wfil be at the homestead of Dir S. R. Lancaster Tc Matai, close to Palmerston North, on Wednesday next. The throw off will he at 2 p.m.
