"FOUL-SMELLING AND DISEASE BREEDING.”

THE HOKOWHITU LAGOONS. The much-vexed question of Hie Hokowhitu Lagoons was touched upon again at the Borough Council meeting last night. Mr H. N. Watson wrote, stating that he had noted by the “Manawatu Times” that a medical officer was coming to report on the matter of draining the Hokowhitu lagoons, and that he wanted it lo be nndersrood that under no circumstances whatever would he allow the foul-smelling and disease-breeding drainage from other lagoons to be brought into the lagoon on the banks of which his house stands. He also stated that if the Government Health Officer and the Borough Engineer would meet him by appointment, he might have a suggestion to make which would possibly solve the difficulty. It was decided to hold the conference as suggested by the writer.
