RAILWAY PICNIC.

AT AW.VPLM RACECOURSE, Well over 1500 people attended the. railway employees’ annual picnic, which was held at Awapuni racecourse_ yesterday. Everyone had a. jolly time, and a programme of sports was much enjoyed. A well-organised committee, with Mr W. O’Donnell as secretary, had all the arrangements well in hand. Railway Handicap: McKinley 1, Pye 2, Fyfe 3. Thread.the-Necdle race: Miss Norris and Norris 1, Mr and Mrs O’Neill 2. Men’s sack race: Campbell 1, Williams 2. Raihvaymen’s wives: Sirs Fyfe L Mrs Stone 2, Mrs Lewin 3. Railwaymen’s wives: Mrs O’Neill 1, Mrs Hogg 2. Men’s apple race: Johnson 1, Williams 2. Relay race: Cockroft, Kerr, Glasson and Keenan.
