MANGAHAO TRAGEDY.

INQUIRY OPENED AND ADJOURNED. BURIAL/ OF VICTIMS. An inquest was opened at Mangahao yesterday by a Foxton Coroner over the bodies of the seven victims of Sunday night’s tragedy The proceedings were purely formal, and the inquest was adjourned for a week. In the afternoon the bodies were conveyed from Arapeti Camp. The remains of the late Mr Butler will be interred in Shannon to-day. Those of Messrs Miller, Maxwell, F. and P. Graham and F. and W. Birss were brought to Palmerston North. Mr Miller’s remains will be sent to Dunedin for burial and Mr Maxwell’s ■ Wanganui.
