The New Zealand .Loan and Mercantile Agency, Limited, have received the following: cablegram from their London house under date 2Sth inst: — Tallow —We quote present spot values for the following descriptions: Fine mutton 40/3 per cwt., good beej 38/6 per cwt., mixed 35/- per cwt.; market quiet. N.Z. frozen meat: Lamb ll|d per lb; mutton, wether and maiden ewe, light 6Jd per lb, heavy hid per lb, ewe light 6jjd per lb, heavy 6d per lb; market weak. Beef: Ox hinds 4Jd per lb, fores 2id per lb; cow hinds 3yd per lb, fores 2£d per lb (an advance of Ad per lb.) New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 28th instant: — Wool sales. —The sales closed firmly to-day. As compared with last sales, closing rates, prices are lower by about 5 per cent, for merino and inferior greasy merino, merino lambs, and inferior scoured merino; lower by about par to 6 per cent, for medium scoured merino; lower by about 5 to 74 per cent, for crossbred slipe; lower by about 10 to IB per cent, medium and coarse greasy crossbred; lower by about 10 per cent, for fine greasy crossbred and scoured crossbred. There is no change in the market for superfine merino and greasy crossbred lambs. Average current London value of the undernoted descriptions of New Zealand greasy wool: Good merino 22d per lb, medium merino ISj per lb, inferior merino 15d per lb, fine crossbred 16Jd per lb, medium crossbred BJd per lb, coarse crossbred 62d per lb, coarse crossbred (36's) 6id per lb. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Palmerston North, report having a very good entry of both sheep and cattle at their Feilding sale on Friday, the 30th ult. There was a good demand for all classes of sheep, but dairy cattle were dull of sale. Stores and fats sold about equal to last week's rates. Quotations: Store cows, 23/to 25/-; 3-year steers, £3 12/-; forward bullocks, U 10/-, £4 15/- to £5; dairy cows, inferior, to £6 10/-; dairy cows, backward, to £8; light fat bullocks, £5 15/-; small lambs, 11/-; B.F. lambs 15/- to 15/4; 4 and 6-yr. ewes in lamb S.D. rams, 23/3; fat lambs, to 20/6; fat ewes, to 18/3; fat wethers 22/-, 24/6 to 25/3. In conjunction with Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., account Adsett estate: — Ewe lambs, 20/7 to 21/8; 2-tooth ewes in lamb Romney rams, 26/7 to 26/9; 4-tooth ewes in lamb Romney rams, 28/-; 6-tooth ditto, 29/3, 30/1, to 30/7, At the Feilding sale on Friday a good yarding of both sheep and cattle came forward to a good attendance. Fat sheep met with good competition, and last week's prices were fully maintained. Hoggets were slightly easier than at late sales. 650 Romney breeding ewes and 320 Romney ewe lambs which we offered in conjunction with Dalgety and Co., Ltd., sold well under keen competition. There was a heavy yarding of dairy stock. Guaranteed cows close to profit met with fair competition. Backward heifers and late cows were neglected. Store cattle met with a dull sale, and prices were low, though the bulk of our entry changed hands. A good entry of fat cattle was fairly competed for. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on Feilding sale, held on 30th June: —Fat sheep: A good yarding of all classes came forward, including some heavy lambs and wethers. The demand throughout was keen, ewes especially being keenly competed for. Store sheep: A fair) yarding, including some good wethers and ewes in lamb. The lambs were of medium quality, with the exception of some good forward black faces. There was a fair demand throughout. The cattle pens were well! filled, although there Avas only a small yarding of dairy stock. All classses met with a fair demand at late rates. We quote:—Fat sheep: Heavy wethers 27/3 to 27/9, good 25/6, mixed 2tooths 22/11 to 25/6, ewes 16/4 to 18/-, heavy lambs 22/6. medium 17/6. Messrs Levin aond Coy. report: — On Friday we held a sale of hides, ekins. tallow etc. There was a larger attendance of buyers than usual. Ltd., Falmerston North/report having held a clearing sale on account of Mr J. Anderson, Bunnythorpe, on Thursday, the 29th inst. There was very good competition for the better conditioned cows, but a number in low condition were rather neglected. Quotations: Low conditioned cows to £6, medium cows £7 to £9. very fair cows to £lO 10/, good cows to £l2 15/, small yearling heifers £2 15/, milking plant £SO, dray £l2 10/. LONDON WOOL/ SALES. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd. have received the following cable from their London agents, dated 28th June, .192": "Wool sales have closed at a decline on opening rates. As compared with the closing rates of the May series, best Merinos are unchanged; fine Crossbreds 46/48's are Id per lb. lower;; Coarse crossbreds 40/44's. Id per lb. lower; short slipes unchanged; combing slipes Id per lb. lower. For slipe wools prices are irregular." WOOL PRICES. The Department of Agriculture hasreceived the following cablegram dated 29th inst., from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:- — Wool: Sales closed with no material alteration in position. Competition generally good throughout, Home, French and Belgian trades being principal supporters, the latter section purchasing merinos freely. Best greasy merinos met with good demand and sold at about previous rate, but medium and inferior closed 5 per cent, lower. Crossbred lines, which formed large proportion of offerings, have been irregular and all show decline. Fine greasy closing 5 per cent, to 10 per cent, medium 15 per cent., and coarse 10 per cent, lower than May rates. Average closing values: 60/64's (merino), 1/2 to 1/8; 56's (super halfbred), 1/1 to 1/6; 50's (half-bred) BJd to lOAd; 48's (fine crossbred), 7J to BJd; 44/46'a (medium crossbred), 6Jd to 7Jd; 36/40's (coarse crossbred) 51d to 6Jd.
