Bates, Government Meteorologist, wired last night as follows: Present indications are for increasing north-west to south-west winds and cloudy and unsettled weather Rain is probable generally, with rivers rising- In the West Coast and Southern districts, and snow on the higher levels in the South Island. The barometer hu.s a lulling tendency.
