BANKRUPT'S REMARKABLE STATEMENT. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night.Some remarkable statements were made during the public examination of John Joseph Baker, recently declared a bankrupt, of Rona Bay. Bankrupt said he had been fairly successful in business, but had been handicapped through his pockets being gone through by his wife and £IOO stolen. He had managed to get back a portion of the money, but he had suffered another reverse by portion of his goods being removed and sold. His premises were also mysteriously burgled, and he had lost some more money. His wife had accused him of making away with the goods, but bankrupt proved he had not so offended. On beinj? asked for an explanation of his wife's conduct, bankrupt said she evidently wanted to get rid of him.
