One child was admitted to the Palmerston North on Thursday, and died yesterday morning. Inspector Huggins visited Levin on Thursday afternoon, and made an inspection to ascertain if there was a common cause for the different cases. Forsyth, have passed the first section of their professional examination for the degree of Bachelor of Engineering. Both are studying at Canterbury College. Mr F. S. Merrick, of Woodville. has passed the first section of the B.A. degree in French, pure mathematics and applied mathematics, while the degree of Bachelor of Arts was recently conferred on Miss Kasi F. M. Rhodes, also of Woodville. Mr. A. H. Ross, a well-known Senior officer of the Postal Telegraph service, is visiting friends in Palmerston North. Twenty-five years ago Mr. Ross was the telegram messenger at Feilding. Mr. Walton, now district accountant at Palmerston, was senior letter carrier, and Mr. W. Worafold, now a postal clerk at Pending, was junior carrier. Messrs McKee and Diamond, both since holding positions as postmasters, were cadets, and Mr. J. H. Stevens, of Palmerston, was Postmaster. The total staff was six. It now numbers between forty and fifty.
