(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 11. The weather was fine this morning, but outside of the course proper, where all the tasks of importance were registered, was on the heavy side. Nighttime, Marble Slab and Polini were in that order at the end of six furlongs, run in 1.23 4-5. Raceful was better than Insurrection and Loyal Irish over the same distance run in 1.21 2-5. Boomerday was better than Canowindra. with Esplanade beaten off at the end of a sound in 2.6. Bitholia went six furlongs in 1.25. Namutere finished better than Anomaly over six furlongs in L 22 2-5. Kick Off did strong work, covering a round in 2.5. Khublai Khan beat Dovelet over seven furlongs in 1.36. After breakfast Nocturne went four furlongs in 52 2-ssecs; Princess Charming and Jolly Princess six in 1.22 2-5; Pente did seven furlongs, the last six taking 1.25 1-5; Tama-a-roa live in 1.7. Golden Bubble six in 1.22. Ruapapa five from the new post in I.S. Gold Plane beat. Paoanui and. Stork over a mile from the new post in 1.49 3-5. Gold Jacket and Glen Canny did four furlongs in 54 3-ssecs, Hippo live in 1.11 2-5. Grand Canyon, Mary Bruce, Toddy and Totara Jack were schooled over the. big country, the three former going over the hill, giving a prood display of fencing. A lot of others also worked. Ad Astra will be the big* smoke in the Oringi Handicap at Waipukurau. If Five Eighths is ever going to win a race, it will be at Waipukurau on Monday as. those opposing the All Black gelding are a moderate lot. Royal Gift, has been accepted for in the Feilding Cup, as well as the Waipukurau Cup. Simonides has been accepted for in the Kawa Kawa Hurdles at Feilding. It will be his first race over hurdles, and his performance will be well watched. He has only to jump weli to make good at the business. Egotism will do better in the Great Autumn Handicap than she did in the Wanganui Cup. J. J. Gravestock's team will bo well worth following at Riccarton.

Those who were on Pleasure at Awapuni, should stick to her at Feilding. Be with Ambitious at Waipukurau. Asterina. has only to reproduce her track form to be home on the bit at Waipukurau. But will she? Final payments and acceptances for the C.J.C. meeting arc oue to-day. Nominations tor the Marlborough Racing Cluh"s Autumn meeting- close on Wednesday next. C. McSeveney will be riding- Goldscene in the hurdles at Feilding. The following- should not have appeared as acceptors in the Kawa Kawa Hurdles at the Feilding meeting: Te Toa, Mangawai. Silta, Misty Wave, Whiz Bang, and Lead On. The Lincolnshire Handicap was, as usual, a "mystery" race, for the following appeared in the. "Sporting Life" less than a month before the race was run: "Although nothing definite has been decided upon as to which of Cottrill's candidates will represent the stable in the Lincoln Handicap, it is likely that the final choice will be Pharmacie. Mr. J. Whites' filly is making good progress, despite the limited amount of training that has been possible, and is one of the several mounts offered to S. Donoghue, who so far has not decided on which horse he will ride." It is interesting note that Mr. J. White's Granely proved the winner, ridden by S. Donoghue. Tou will look your best durrng th coming meetings if attired in a stylish suit and nobby hat purchased froi Alf. Mahon, sports mercer, the Square. Call In and select your requirements from complete stocks of ties, hats, handkerchiefs, shirts, etc. Quality the beat—prices right.*

Very satisfactory acceptances have been rece.rved for the nrst day's events of the Feilding Autumn meeting.

The Feilding Cup has not drawn as big a field as was expected, but if the the eight acceptors go to the post there is every prospect of a good race restating. Marquetour and Trespass, on Awapuni form, are not harshly treated with 9.7. Both of them can be expected to put up a good fight. Rouen (9.5) will hardly be ready to run out a solid mile and a half. Vagabond (5.9) has shown no form since the Dunedin Cup meeting, but still he must be given a chance, as he is such a great stayer. Paoanui. with 5.2, looks the pick of the handicaps, and if she goes to the post fit and well, it will be hard to pick one to beat her. Egmont Park (7.13) may b« found wanting at. the end of a mile and a quarter. Royal Gift (0.7) has a. chance, but Skylight (6.7) has done nothing to warrant him running out a mile and a half. Sizing them up, I pick Paoanut, Trespass and Royal Gift to be very near the placed division. ■*«•: With all her weight hi the Mangaone Handicap, Awake (9.0) will be very hard to beat. Jovial, Mort Avis, Irapuka. Pantler, Voluble, Kuia, and Crossfire claim double engagements at Feilding on Saturday. Paoanui has been accepted for in the Auckland Easter Handicap as well as the Feilding Cup. Both 'events are run on the same day. Do not forget that Surveyor has been paid up for in the Eden Handicap, run at Auckland on Saturday. No fewer than forty horses have been accepted for in the Nelson Handicap, run on Saturday at Auckland. Loyal Irish has a good chance in the Easter Handicap at Auckland. Leaving Epitaph out, Rapine is the pick of the two-year-olds engaged in the Great Northern Champagne Stakes. Starland, Mangamahoe and Blue Cross are expected to mafte their first appearance in a hurdle race at Auckland. The well-bred Left is engaged in the iMaiden Stakes at Feilding on y *.'•
