The death has occurred at Dunedin of Sergeant W. Gilbert, formerly a well-known member of the Police Force. He came to New Zealand in 1873, having previously been ‘ in the Police Force in Cornwall, England. He was for many years sergeant-in-charge of North Dunedin, retiring a few years ago.
