OBITUARY.
MR. W. M. HANNAY, J.P. The death occurred in Wellington at about mid-day on Saturday of Mr W. M. Han nay, J.P., an old and respected resident of Wellington, at the age of 74 years. For some time past the late Mr Hannay had been in indifferent health, and live weeks ago he underwent an operation, from which he recovered. He, however, hud a relapse, and after a short illness passed away. About 45 years ago the deceased gentleman came to New Zealand from Scotland, and for a few years lived in the South Island. From the time he left the South Island until the time of his death he had resided in Wellington. The late Mr Hannay was for many years General Manager for New Zealand Railways. He later assumed the position of manager of the Manawatu Railway, which was owned by a company, and remained in that capacity until the Government too the railway over. Since then he had been living in retirement. The deceased is survived by his wife and a family of five, three daughters, Mesdames Forrest (Falmerston N.), and F. C. Widdup,. and Miss Hannay (Wellington), and two sons, Messrs A. Hannay (Palmerston N.), and K. Hannay (Wellington).
