A WAR MEMORIAL.

THE WANGANUI PLEBISCITE

(Per Press Association.) WANGANUI, Last Night,

Some months ago, following a public meeting of various local bodies, delegates were appointed to select the site and form of the memorial to the men of the town, suburbs, and district Who took part in the war. A memorial, to be placed on Durie Hill, from which it would be seen for many miles around, was decided upon. An objection was raised by a section, who wanted a small memorial in the Queen's Park. A plebiscite was taken to-day, the Queen’s Park proposal receiving 987 votes, as against 487 for the Durie Hill. Something like 7000 voters were eligible to vote.
